BayTree Wellness Center was founded in 2002 by Laureen Fanucchi and Stephanie LaCarrubba. Our team includes some of the Bay Area’s finest practitioners in acupuncture, Chinese medicine, massage, skin care, mind/body, and spiritual services.

Stephanie LaCarrubba, RN, LAc
With a B.S. in Nursing Science from the University of San Francisco and a Masters in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University Stephanie was a clinical nurse specialist and worked with people with cancer and immune disorders for 20 years. After seeing the wonderful results some of her patients achieved through acupuncture treatments she decided to study Chinese Medicine and received her Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1995. Stephanie has been practicing acupuncture in the Bay Area for over 6 years. She is licensed in the state of California and board certified to practice nationwide by the National Commission for Certification of Acupuncturists. She has also completed a certification course in pediatrics and Reiki level 1 training. Stephanie will design individual treatment plans using nutrition, herbs, acupuncture, and exercise to manage a variety of acute and chronic conditions.
Laureen Fanucchi, CN, CMT
Laureen has been in practice for over ten years with a degree in Nutrition Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and a certification in massage therapy from Pacific Coast School of Massage. She has received additional massage education in areas including: Sports, Acupressure, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Prenatal and Postpartum Massage, Hot Stones, Thai Massage, Reiki, and Aromatherapy. In addition, Laureen has worked as a Doula and is an Infant Massage Instructor. She has received special training through the Upledger Institute in CranialSacral Therapy (CST) and has completed training in CST for Pediatrics. Born and raised in the Bay Area, and the mother of two children, Laureen knows firsthand what it is like to have a child with learning challenges. Her son, diagnosed with Dyslexia, has benefited from receiving CST, and as an advocate and practitioner Laureen has been in the position to help many families. She has worked with children with ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, Sensory Integration, Auditory Processing, Scoliosis, Seizure Disorders, and Developmental Delays as well as babies with Torticolis, Sleeping Issues, Colic, and positional issues from birth. Through massage and CST Laureen has also helped adults with neurological disorders, TMJ, Headaches/Migraines, C-section recovery, Fertility issues, Pregnancy, Postpartum, Depression, Arthritis, neck and back pain, Fibromylagia, and Sports Injuries. Her goals for her clients are for them to feel safe, supported, and at peace when they are in her office and for her to provide a place to heal mind, body and spirit.
Afshin Mokhtari, MS, LAc
With over a decade experience in Asian healing modalities, and after education and certification in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Afshin pursued further training in order to increase his effectiveness both in Acupuncture and Herbology. A lot of his current needling technique derives from Japanese styles where thinner needles are used, and are inserted less deep. Afshin also continues to study classical Chinese Medicine and herbal therapies.
Specialties include:
* musculoskeletal problems – especially neck, shoulder, and knee issues,
* womens issues – especially menstrual cycle problems, menopause, and fertility,
* sports medicine – for performance enhancement as well as recovery from injury.
